theresa heinl

Today we sat down to talk with a pivotal member of our The Third Estimate team. Theresa Heinl, our project manager, has been an invaluable part of our team since December 2018. She plays a crucial role in ensuring that every job is completed correctly and every customer is happy. Theresa goes above and beyond to ensure that our projects are executed with the utmost professionalism and quality.

What are your responsibilities at The Third Estimate?

“I manage all of the crews (roofers, siders, gutter guys, window guys, etc.), maintain all of the budgets for the production department, build jobs from start to finish, but most importantly, make sure that every customer is happy. That is my goal everyday. If we have an unhappy customer, I have to figure out how to fix it. I literally will go home and not be myself until I know that unhappy customer is okay and satisfied.”

What does your day-to-day look like?

“I get in at 6:45 am. The first couple hours are crazy. I get all the guys out, I make sure that all the jobs are ready, answer emails, go through labor bills, manage my production team, and take phone calls in-between all of that. Basically, everyday I make sure that jobs are going smoothly. I also have to manage the suppliers. Let’s say they go to a house and crack a driveway with their truck. Then I have to be the one to take care of getting that driveway fixed. Everyday is all about multitasking.”

What do you like to do in your free time?

“I’m very obsessed with running on my Peloton – I have the bike and the treadmill. I also love animals. I have a 3 year-old Dachshund named Rudy, that I love taking on walks and to different parks. We got him for Christmas after my other Dachshund, Charcoal, passed away (he lived to be 18 years old!). I love to landscape. I worked in landscaping for 17 years and have my own garden where I grow vegetables like tomatoes and peppers. The real challenge is keeping my 3 kids out of the garden.”

How many phone calls do you take per day?

“I literally take a call every 3 minutes. If I go down my call log, every 3 minutes I’m on the phone, so probably like 60-70 calls. Each one of those go for at least 2-3 minutes – sometimes longer.”

What is your favorite part about working at The Third Estimate?

“I love transforming people’s houses and making a real difference in lives. Seeing the before and afters and how happy people are is the best part. I like when people save money over time to do a big change, and then they tell me about it. It’s really fulfilling to hear about that and manage making it happen for them.”
