About The Think Third Patriot Project
The Think Third Patriot project by The Third Estimate honors veterans and active service members by providing deserving heroes with a free, high-quality roof replacement. We recognize the sacrifices made by these individuals and aim to give back by ensuring they have a safe, reliable roof over their heads. Each year, we spotlight our winners and share their incredible stories, showcasing the strength and dedication of those who have served our country. Through this initiative, The Third Estimate proudly supports and thanks our military community.
Project Spotlights
Locker Project
Kent, OH
Our most recent Think Third Patriot Project winner is a couple from Kent, OH, whose dedication and resilience are truly inspiring. Currently serving on active duty with the Ohio Army National Guard, this service member has been deployed along the Southwest Border since October 2023. With his wife holding down their home and caring for their animals, they have faced the challenges of separation and an ongoing journey to build their family.
“By receiving this, we can focus on putting money into building our family.”
After three years and two rounds of unsuccessful IUI treatments, they are preparing for IVF upon his return in October 2024. By receiving support through the Think Third Patriot Project, this couple can focus on their dream of expanding their family and investing in their future together.
Chapman Project
North Ridgeville, OH
Our recent Think Third Patriot Project spotlight honors John Chapman, a 75-year-old Army Vietnam Veteran whose life embodies dedication and resilience. Nominated by his daughter, Sarah—a Navy veteran herself—John is celebrated as a hero to his family and community. Known for his selflessness, John enlisted in the Army during his junior year of high school to serve others and spent a year in Vietnam as an Aviation Electronics Repairman. This commitment to service defined his life, and he went on to a long career as a skilled maintenance professional and a “fix-it guru” at home.
"Dad is, frankly, everyone's hero."
Despite facing severe arthritis and sciatica, John still planned to replace his roof himself this year—a testament to his determination and independence. With his new roof, John and his family can be assured he’ll stay safely grounded, where his legacy of service and kindness can continue to inspire.
Rodriguez Project
Parma, OH
Dillon Rodriguez and Keslie Honeycutt, two veterans with 24 years of combined military service, first connected while deployed with the Army National Guard in Kuwait. Now homeowners in Ohio, they’ve faced a challenging journey marked by undisclosed home issues and Dillon’s career-ending injury while serving as a Cleveland Police Officer. With his injuries requiring numerous surgeries, Dillon and Keslie have endured significant financial strain, leaving their home repairs largely unattended. Despite these hardships, their commitment to each other and their dreams of marriage and family has only strengthened.
"I am so grateful that there are still people and organizations out there doing stuff like this for veterans."
Thanks to The Third Estimate and NEOPAT, Dillon and Keslie’s home will receive an exterior makeover, including a new roof, windows, siding, and gutters—giving them renewed hope and freedom to focus on their future together.
